Dr. Paul Poulakos is a Georgetown and Mount Sinai trained psychiatrist. In addition to seeing patients in private practice, Dr. Poulakos is an Attending Psychiatrist who continues to work in various academic hospital centers throughout the New York City area.

Dr. Poulakos’ Approach to Care

Formerly, Dr. Poulakos served as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr. Poulakos remains on staff at Mount Sinai where he works in the Psychiatric Emergency Room. Dr. Poulakos has presented at national conferences and has worked in numerous settings with various patient populations of all ages and backgrounds. In addition to treating a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders, Dr. Poulakos works with clients who may not necessarily meet criteria for a mental illness; helping people come to terms with real obstacles, while acknowledging self-imposed, imaginary ones, is one example of how Dr. Poulakos works with clients to navigate life’s challenges and achieve personal success and fulfillment. His special interests include ADHD, treatment-resistant depression, Anxiety, and LGBT Mental Health.
